Banner: Moserbaer Produced By: Dhananjeyan, Lalitha Review:
As the title suggests the film is about a girl Tamilarasi. It focusses on the hero's search for her. Heart-warming story of a young man, who loses his girl, due to his mistake. How he gets her back forms the crux of the story. In a minute one can take a decision which can change one's life forever. ATP is about such a decision taken by the hero. Its consequences and how he goes about resurrecting his life is what the film is about.".
The story is set on a rural backdrop. Siva Rao (Veera Santhanam) who is a Thol Pavai puppeteer. He along with his family goes around villages performing the art, entertaining the crowds all for his survival. They reach a village near Tirunelveli, there lives Chelladurai (Theodre Bhaskaran), a very rich man. He decides to support the family of Siva Rao since his grandson Jothi (Jai) is an ardent fan of the art. Siva Rao's granddaughter Thamizharasi (Nandagi) is enrolled in a school and she studies hard and passes out with very good scores. Jothi and Thamizharasi become inseparable and in the 12th Board Exam, Jothi fails and Tamil becomes the district topper and gets admission in a college at Pune.
Unable to leave her, Jothi does a controversial thing and he is sent away from the village to city. Similarly, Tamizh too moves away from the village along with their family. After few years Jothi, returns to village and learns Tamizh is nowhere. The rest is all about how Jothi travels in search of Tamizh. Was he able to win her again forms the climax. Jai has come up with a decent performance. Debutant Nandhagi, is apt for the role. Kanaj Karuppu evokes laughter in all his screen presence.
P.G.Muthiah's cinematography is impressive and adds strength to the film. Vijay Antony's background score and his mix of folk & Melody is good. The art work of SS Murthy in recreating a village and the puppeters is brilliant. Editor Raja Mohammed could have speeded up the film. Director Meera Kadhiravan has come up with a known tale but his presentation and narration is different. The dialogues are sensible, the script & the screenplay was excellent. A good attempt by the Director.
